House of Cards

Living in a house of cards
The walls aren't thick enough
To block the ill regards.
Nor, do they block the sound
Of my sharpening sword.
Still, I hear them questioning
How sharp mine is,
Or if it's even sharp at all.
Every note I play
Further from dull,
They wonder why,
So persistently,
I grind and polish.
Well, like a samurai
That's made up his mind,
No longer blind,
Knowing any time,
Is just as good
Of a time to die,
I can love
With no more time resigned;
What's to fear
About a fragile house falling
When your blade is fit
to carry through
The other side?

Who’s Your Daddy? 2 Of X

I posted an old cover video I did of a Corey Harris song today; so, I thought it would be a good time to add another name to my “Who’s Your Daddy?” list. For those of you that didn’t read the first one, this is basically a list of the people that inspire me to create. This Catfish Blues video below is what got me hooked on Corey’s sound. That Delta Blues style walking bass got me hooked right away, but he embellishes it with his riffs to make it even more soulful. I also think he has a great blues...

Gradient Waves

Radical nightmares,
Radiant premonitions,
Eerily, it unfolded
To verify my suspicions.
What you believe,
The present comes to follow.
Let your waves wash in
Aloha and Mahalo.

HealthyWage Challenge Day 103

Weight: 151.4 lbs. I ran 13 miles today, but I think I burned all of those miles off by eating plenty of food. There were a couple of strange things on my run. First there was this old guy dressed in light brown slacks, black suspenders, a white button down shirt, dress shoes, and pitch black sunglasses. He was walking slow and almost stumbling a bit. I was wondering if he was blind. I crossed paths with him twice and both times, just before I passed him, he put his hands up in the air. The second thing that I enjoyed...

HealthyWage Challenge Day 102

Weight: 151.6 lbs. I skipped the post from day 101. I’ve been caught up in the rat race this week trying to chase the dollar bill. The time is starting to blur, and I haven’t had as much time to do the things that I prefer to do. I guess the positive side is that it always makes the runs that much sweeter. HealthyWage Challenge Day 98

Weight: 154.2 lbs. I did some good exercise today, but I drank a lot of sugar as well. Although, I did get a free rental from Redbox because of one soda; so, that was cool. At least I think it was free. They still made me swipe my card (as collateral I guess). I saw a boy walking during his soccer training run with his dad, or his trainer. I think it’s a good reminder of inertia. I felt bad for him because I know it will only be worse as the season progresses if he starts walking now. However, if he...
