The tests never cease.
So, we must stand strong in praise,
And walk on with ease.

Done in the Dark
It was a face on an easel
Covered in oil,
Staring at the people,
A picture of evil.
It had a greasy smirk
And was the bane
Of the owner’s
Vain existence
Staying ever persistent
In it’s effort
To return the resistance.
Alas,
The pressure, perhaps,
Grew to massive;
The carotid collapsed,
The facade paled,
And Unveiled
What the true brush strokes
Had Painted.

If You Can Dodge A Wrench…
Patches O’houlihan
Was caught today
With Criminal amounts
Of clean urine.
He did not dispute.
He politely obeyed;
Yet, sternly conveyed
“It’s sterile,
And I like the taste.”

Lying in Wait
A fifth of Bacardi,
16 bags of tea,
My nerves are remixing their rhythm.
I feel that my heart
Has been skipping a beat,
But I’ve pawned my conventional wisdom.
10 boxes of Trix,
Every other one free;
The vitamins, minerals, total 13.
‘Got a similar deal
On the cans of sardines
‘Cause I still gotta get some protein.
Waves of the future
Forming behind me;
Broken past washing up on beachhead.
Will it get better,
Or will it get worse,
Debt gentrification still building to cred.

Define Poetry – #1
Dilemma (n):
A moral
dipole antenna
Catching signals
From two different
Angles.
Each one being cogent,
The mind becomes tangled,
Listening back and forth,
Hoping and praying
The truth will soon
Louder resound.

Inflamed Disdain
I pretend
To represent
The Zen,
The phlegm,
Secured at brainstem,
The center
Of the Venn
Diagram.
The balanced.
When Actually,
I am,
More like the REM,
Eyes Shifting
Back and forth
To dream up
Some chem
To medicate,
Remedy,
Repair and mend,
The two halves
Of my brain
That are torn
At the hem.

Vision Correction
I fought the long slog
For the fruit of freedom,
But the fruit was one of those
Where you couldn’t eat ’em.
What do I do with this?
It looks pretty I guess,
But it’s not what I’d hoped for,
I’m not that impressed.
And now, it’s back to the nitty-gritty
With a shattered hope like,
“Oh, what a pity.”
I pray that I learn
To love the stress;
Otherwise, what hope
Have I left?

Patience
Perplexed,
My Mind flexed
To overcome
Its vexation.
What effort was made?
Squeezed lemons no aide,
And I have bitter taste
From the whole situation.
