What’s the point of that fence?

I was thinking about fence (the word fence). That thought process progressed into chain link fence. Then, I imagined that British lady from the TV show “The Weakest Link” saying “You ARE!!! the Weakest Link. Good bye.” Then, I thought “white picket fence”. I imagined a fence just along the front of the yard with the other sides unbound. What would be the point of that, I thought. I could just walk around. It’s not even aesthetically pleasing because I would spend too much time wondering where the rest of the sides are. I thought the only purpose of a one length fence is at a football game after the letter ‘D’. Nonetheless, I knew people had these one length fences, and so my mind continued to churn. There must be a reason. Then it struck me. A plausible reason: the person living in this house with a one length fence is afflicted with the condition where both of their eyes are crossed. So, they can see pretty well from both sides, but they have a blind spot straight ahead. Thus, they built a one length fence to prevent people from approaching them out of their blind spot while they are lounging on their front porch. Please don’t refute this possibility as it would send my mind down another rabbit hole of thought until I came up with another possible reason why a person would put a one length fence in front of their house.
